A Guide By Bistro St. Tropez Men’s Board Shorts Australia

Home to almost 7,000 kilometres of coastline, Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, and some of the world’s best beaches; a trip to the sunshine state is the ultimate summer holiday. So, pack your best board shorts, swim shorts, resort wear and plenty of sunscreen. Here are a few ideas from us to plan out your trip to North Queensland.

Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system, made up of almost 3,000 individual reefs and 900 islands, that stretches over an area of around 344,400 square kilometres. This iconic coral reef is blessed with breathtaking beauty, an abundance of marine wildlife, golden beaches, and hundreds of isolated and picturesque tropical islands.

For a cruise touring the Great Barrier Reef, we recommend looking for deals on Great Barrier Reef Tours. A day-long adventure takes you directly to Green Island, where you get the chance to snorkel, dive, swim amongst the colourful array of exotic fish and turtles, walk the island – approx. 45 minutes – and a host of other educational perks. Don’t forget about the lovely Emerald Restaurant for quality dining, grill, and little bites for the kids. This is the perfect destination to strut your flamingo shorts.

Cairns is considered by many as the gateway to the Reef and much of far north Queensland, it is definitely the best place to start. There are a number of different ways to experience Cairns and Tropical North QLD, and there’s none better than seeing the crocodiles. That’s right! You will notice lots of signs near the rivers, and even on the beaches warning visitors of saltwater crocodiles, often the warnings are there for locals that have had one too many coronas down at the local pub. Needless to say, be careful where you decide to go swimming!

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures

You can book a tour on the river, and see live crocodiles in the wild, but their harder to come by, so we recommend checking out Hartley’s Crocodile Farm. It’s pretty cheap, you have the option to take a 20-minute boat cruise, which is a real crowd pleaser. They live feed the crocs by holding what looks like a chicken tied to the end of a large stick, so you can see the crocs up close as they propel their bodies out of the water to snatch the prize.

Definitely check out their croc attack show! Watch the Hartley team demonstrate and teach the crowd about crocodile attacks, including a snake show with the infamous Taipan. It’s not only packed full of interesting information, but really funny. They have a great sense of humour there at Hartley’s.

Fancy a feed? Well, if you’re game enough you can literally order a crocodile burger and eat it in front of the crocs casually swimming a mere 20 metres away from the dining area. Generally packed full of tourists you will fit right in with a pair of men’s board shorts – you’re in the tropics after all!

The Whitsundays

The Whitsundays are nothing short of paradise: a collective of 74 islands located between Queensland’s coast and the Great Barrier Reef.

Whitehaven Beach has to be seen to be believed. The largest island of the Whitsundays, the beach stretches over seven kilometres of pristine sand and clear blue water. It can be accessed by boat, seaplane and helicopter from Airlie Beach, and is best travelled by sailboat. There aren’t many better places to chuck on your Bistro boat shorts and enjoy the glamour Whitehaven has to offer.

Hamilton Island is a tourist’s paradise, and one of the Whitsunday’s most popular islands – especially amongst romantic couples. It has a range of accommodation options, whether it be a five-star luxury resort fancied by celebrities, or a number of family friendly offerings.

The picture perfect waters surrounding Hamilton Island, like the rest of the region, make it the ideal place for water sports – so you don’t need to pack anything but your Bistro St. Tropez men’s boardshorts. Kayaking, sailing, or jet skiing, there’s something for everyone depending on if you want to explore what Hamilton has to offer or simply relax and enjoy the tranquil blue waters.

Hamilton Island is also renowned for its spectacular sunsets, Dent Island for golf, yoga and walking trails, and the Hamilton Island Race Week attracts thousands of people for a week of celebrations.

Mossman Gorge

Remember what we said about crocodiles? Don’t worry, you’re safe here!

The Mossman Gorge is the gateway to the world’s oldest rainforest, the Daintree Rainforest. Take a stroll up in the tree top boardwalk, and eventually you’ll make it to a local favourite swimming hole.

Perfect for kids, families, and adventurers alike!

Other must-see places in Cairns include:

  • Kuranda Sky Rail
  • Cape Tribulation
  • Paronella Park
  • Josephine Falls
  • Daintree Rainforest
