Must-See Beaches and Hidden Gems in Perth

Must-See Beaches and Hidden Gems in Perth

Posted by MSB Solutions on

Heavily underrated and often left out of the conversation around Australia’s beaches, Perth, in fact, offers some of the country’s absolute best beaches. Characterised by golden sand, blue waters and warm climate, here is the Bistro St. Tropez guide to the best beaches Perth has to offer.

Scarborough Beach

One of our personal favourites, Scarborough, is characteristic of the spectacular scenery Perth beaches offer. Located just 13 kilometres from Perth CBD, Scarborough is a trendy, beachside community. With ocean-side cycling, walking, plenty of cafes and shops, as well as public barbecue facilities, Scarborough has it all.

The beach itself is a surfer’s paradise with good, regular swells, and when that classic Perth wind picks up in the afternoon its ideal conditions for windsurfing. The new and iconic Scarborough beach pool is also well worth the visit, with heated 25m and 50m pools allowing for lap swimming all year round in your favourite swim shorts.

Cottesloe Beach

Halfway between Perth and Fremantle is Cottesloe Beach, or ‘Cott’ as known to locals, is considered one of Perth’s most popular beaches. Known for its iconic crystal-clear waters, white sand, shady Norfolk Pines and beautiful pavilion, there aren’t many better places to spend a day in the sun and surf.

A family-friendly spot for swimming, snorkelling, playing in the sand or simply reading a book on the perfectly manicured lawns that surround the beach. The strip of cafes and restaurants behind Cottesloe beach are also the perfect spot to enjoy a meal, a glass of wine and watch a spectacular sunset.

Whatever you’re doing at the beach – catching a wave, swimming, kicking a boogie board, playing in the sun, or just hanging out – board shorts that stretch and move with you are important. Remember, Bistro St. Tropez men’s board shorts aren’t just for show, they’re performance enhanced, durable, and set the bar high for all-day comfort.

City Beach

15 minutes from Perth’s CBD, and home to many of the city’s more glamorous homes, is City Beach. City Beach has won the award for Perth’s best beach countless times, and it’s not hard to see why. Much like the other beaches on our list, it’s characterised by pure golden sand, crystal-clear water, and also offers purpose-built ocean barriers which allows for safe swimming and fishing.

You are in Australia after all, and Perth specifically has a reputation for attracting Great White Sharks. But you can rest assured that the city takes the safety of their local beachgoers and tourists very seriously.

City Beach also provides barbecue facilities, a playground, picnic tables and outdoor showers.

Rottnest Island

While not specifically in Perth, a one-and-a-half-hour ferry ride away from Perth will take you to the magical Rottnest Island, or ‘Rotto’,’ as commonly referred to by locals. An island 19km off the coast of Perth, Rottnest Island is home to the ‘world’s happiest animal,’ the Quokka. Other wildlife experiences include whale watching, diving among the coral, and swimming with dolphins.

Swim amongst the shipwreck ruins on the ocean floor, experience a walking tour, take advantage of a “glamping” experience (glamorous camping), and with a choice of over 63 secluded beaches, you will be spoiled for choice.

Whatever is on your wish list – shredding a wave or sipping a cocktail; spending a day laidback in the sun or a night at the local beach bar – Bistro board shorts will keep you comfortable, looking good and performing at your best.

Have an amazing time and be sure to let us know your favourite Perth destinations!
