Surfers Paradise
Surfers Paradise is a coastal suburb on Queensland’s Gold Coast in eastern Australia. Although it is well-known for its high-rise apartment buildings and Cavill Avenue with its shops, cafes, and nightclubs, its wide surf beaches are the main attraction. Surfers Paradise is the heart of the Gold Coast, and its surf beaches are an iconic spot for everyone, young and old, to enjoy some fun in the sun. So get your board shorts on, and let’s hit the beaches of Surfers Paradise, where beach fashion is the name of the game.
The Gold Coast stretch of beach reaches along more than 70 kilometers of the Coral Sea and features some of the best surf and swim spots for everyone, including novice surfers and families. With so many beaches to choose from, let’s look at some of the must-visit beaches in Surfers Paradise.
Broadbeach
Broadbeach is one of Surfers Paradise’s most popular destinations, especially for families or couples looking to enjoy the white sandy beaches, sparkling blue water, or adjoining manicured parks. It is a two-kilometer trek, or about a ten-minute walk, south of Surfers Paradise, and it is the site of the annual Australian Surf Lifesaving Carnival. Along with having some excellent surfing spots, it features world-class restaurants as well as five-star resorts and casinos.
Burleigh Heads Beach
Burleigh Heads Beach is known for its golden sand, crystal clear waters, and limitless surfing opportunities. The beach has experienced lifesavers on hand so you and your family can feel safe while in the waters, and beach-goers never feel crowded on the vast beach, even during peak season. It has great parking and is within walking distance from James Street that offers excellent food and drinks for after you’re done in the sun.
Currumbin Alley
Currumbin Alley is one of the top five busiest beaches along the Gold Coast, thanks to its orientation that makes it both an excellent spot for surfing and a protected area for swimming. It attracts more than 100,000 tourists and residents each year. Currumbin Alley has a patrolled lifeguard tower and is a great place to learn how to surf or improve your surfing.
Snapper Rocks – Coolangatta
Snapper Rocks is a scenic, hidden gem of the Gold Coast tucked away from the hustle and bustle of beaches like Broadbeach. It features pristine beaches, secluded swimming spots, and of course, great surf. Snapper Rocks is another protected beach with smaller waves perfect for beginner or novice surfers; however, it can get rougher when the tide comes in, and only experienced surfers should take on those waves.
Kirra Beach – Coolangatta
Kirra Beach is an excellent beach for families since it has manageable waves, safe areas for swimming, and plenty of nearby parking. Also, it allows dogs and has great pathways by the water for walking. Kirra Beach is wide, meaning that it is not overcrowded even on busier days and is a definite must-visit on the Gold Coast.
On your next visit to these pristine surfing beaches, make sure to stock up on vacation essentials like men’s and boy’s board shorts, resort wear, bikinis, and much more!
