About Board Shorts

Board Shorts were originally designed for aquatic sports, especially for surfing. In the early days boardshorts were also called surf trunks, jams or even swim shorts. Today, boardshorts are a very popular form of casual summer wear. Many Australians love donning a pair of comfortable board shorts and spending the day on the beaches.

Board shorts are unique in design and usually come in quick drying fabric. They are generally crafted from strong yet smooth nylon or polyester material. Since board shorts are meant to be worn for surfing and other active aquatic activities, they are designed to be highly durable and suitable for all manner of water sports.

Boardshorts are designed to be quick-drying, and are generally made from strong and smooth polyester or nylon material. They are durable and hold up to wear from contact with a surfboard, yet are comfortable and light-weight. They are well-adapted to use in various active water sports.

Most boardshorts are loose or baggy in appearance, and longer than conventional swimming trunks. They are designed to protect the wearer’s legs from abrasions against a surfboard. It’s length can be as short as up to mid-thigh, or as long as to reach below the knee. Longer boardshorts seem to have become more popular in recent years.

Since they are designed primarily for surfing, board shorts typically do not have an elastic waist band like swim trunks. Instead, they are held a rigid waistband and opens at the front with a velcro fly. There’s usually a small pocket incorporated to allow for storing a car or hotel key, for convenience.

At Bistro St Tropez, our boardshorts are made from high quality fabrics and feature the unique and vibrant designs inspired by Bali. Comfort is our key focus along with a commitment to true quality and durability. Our boardshorts, t-shirts and other products, are all designed to be highly durable and practical.
